The Flayed Angel was influenced by a reference image that "Lee" Alexander McQueen turned to for inspiration time and again and is inspired by the Victorian anatomical illustrations of Jacques-Fabien Gautier.

This image became the starting reference for Gary James McQueen's first digital fashion collection "Guiding Light", and as a nod to his late uncle, was incorporated into the show in various ways forming part of the set aesthetic and also interpreted as sculptural military jacket as part of the collection.

The Flayed Angel is now available as a limited edition lenticular artwork presented as a 3D turntable reminiscent of the Dutch Masters.
