Miart Gallery London proudly presents Origins II, the much-anticipated continuation of its acclaimed Origins series. Opening on 2 October 2025, the exhibition deepens the narrative of its first chapter, shifting from ideas of cultural, spiritual, and personal genesis to the reformation and transformation of those foundations.
Challenging the notion of a single “origin,” Origins II frames it instead as a layered dialogue between past and present. Across painting, photography, sculpture, and mixed media, the exhibition explores inheritance, identity, and change through the distinct perspectives of six international artists: Jonathan Schultz, Thannyo De Freitas, Kadir Akyol, Selda Güneş, Çağlar Tağcı, and Lars Beusker.
From ethereal landscapes and symbolic portraits to abstract cosmic visions and gilded floral compositions, including works partially inspired by Nelson Mandela’s fight for freedom, the exhibition brings together diverse practices united by a shared exploration of memory, imagination, and renewal. In tracing the tensions between tradition and innovation, permanence and impermanence, Origins II invites viewers to reconsider what it means to begin, inherit, and evolve. More than a visual experience, the exhibition offers a meditation on transformation itself, a reminder that every beginning carries within it the possibility of renewal.
