Ibrahim Halil Islam has been involved in painting from an early age. Later in his life, when studying Fine Art in Istanbul, the artist met famous calligrapher Hüsnü Hat who introduced him to the art of calligraphy. He further became a student of Huseyin Kutlu - a prominent calligraphy master. During the first year, the artist showed his natural talent and managed to finish his first calligraphy and he was allowed to sign it already at the beginning of the second year. This is a very special case: typically it takes a much longer time to receive permission for signing your calligraphy by calligraphy master supervisor - around 10 years.

Ibrahim Halil Islam decided to go further in his education and moved to the supervision of another calligraphy master - Davut Bektas in Suleymaniye with whom he studied for 2 years. After his calligraphy studies, Ibrahim Halil Islam is following the 11th Century Ottoman calligraphy technique - celi-sülüs, which was mastered by the 19th Century Calligraphy Old Master Sami Efendi. He also uses nesih style, borrowed from another Old Master - Sevki Efendi.

Ibrahim Halil Islam has his works exhibited across UAE, United Kingdom, USA, and Turkey in numerous mosques and shrines.
