Mustafa Özçelik Turkish, b. 1987

Mustafa Özçelik studied rik'a and sülüs calligraphy styles from Süleyman Berk - prominent calligraphy masters, whom he met during his high school years. He continued his higher education in Fine Arts with the encouragement coming from his teachers.

Mustafa Özçelik studied rik’a and sülüs calligraphy styles from Süleyman Berk - prominent calligraphy masters, whom he met during his high school years. He continued his higher education in Fine Arts with the encouragement coming from his teachers; in 2011 he graduated from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in Traditional Turkish Handcraft Department with Art of Calligraphy specialty.

 

In 2007, Mustafa was awarded First Place in the Hüsn-i Hat calligraphic style in the Mevlana Competition organized by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. In 2010, he was awarded Second Place in the Hüsn-i Hat calligraphy style in the "European Capital of Culture Istanbul 2010" competition, organized by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. 

 

Mustafa Özçelik participated in many domestic and international exhibitions in countries like England, America, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, and Iraq. His artworks have been acquired by prominent Islamic art collectors, including Mehmet Çebi, the Istanbul Hilye-i Şerif, and Rosary Museum. The artist continues his calligraphy lessons with Osman Özçay and also works in his own studio.
