Emre Namyeter – born November 1984, Istanbul, Turkey.

Namyeter is a multi-disciplinary artist who focuses mainly on light art, sculptures and paintings created with self-made paints.

Nemyeter commenced his studies in the arts in Istanbul, where he gained a degree in advertising and photography at the Istanbul Bilgi University. He then moved to Austria, where he pursued and completed a Fine Art degree in Salzburg in 2010. Namyeter went on to San Francisco to study sculpture in 2012 and finally landed in Montreal, where he completed his studies in Electronic Arts in 2016. Today, Namyeter is still based in Montreal, but often travels back and forth to Istanbul for artistic inspiration.

Through his abstract style of Namyeter invites the viewer to create their own perception. He focuses on human perception, questioning how we perceive things differently to one another, how our perception filters reality and how in the end, we tend to see things not as they ‘really’ are but as we are. In order to achieve this ‘distorted’ viewer perception, he uses lines, patterns, layers, mirrors and paints and portrays these in different light conditions.
