In 2015, she pursued the medium of “sculpture” she interprets nature, everyday objects and the human body in a new abstract way.
Beste Alperat’s work reflects Istanbul’s culture and heritage, and are created using the kirigami technique, which is a variation of origami derived from Japan. Alperat graduated from Ankara Ataturk Anadolu High School and continued her studies at Middle East Technical University in the faculty of architecture and City design. Following her graduation in 1990, she then moved to Istanbul, where she worked for the Municipality of Uskudar, under the department of construction.
While working in the municipality, she became a part of a project which emphasizes the importance of statues and monuments in urban architecture. She continued working as a designer until becoming a full-time artist in 2015, using sculpture to interpret nature, everyday objects and the human body in an abstract way. Since then, her works have been shown at Contemporary Istanbul, Art Week, the Art, and Antique Fair, as well as numerous international exhibitions in Paris, Cannes, London, Miami, and New York. Additionally, she is a member of the International Plastic Arts Association, the Devrim Erbil Foundation and ACT Association des Artistes Contemporains de Turquie à Paris.
